About
I’m not really. I lead a very private personal life but invest heavily i the kayak fishing community and content creation in it. I serve as the Tournament Director for SCYAK, organizing events ranging from highly competitive main trail tournaments to grassroots paddle-only events and night tournaments. I also create fishing and gear content on YouTube under “Travis Does Kayak Fishing,” where I focus on honest kayak reviews, fishing electronics, tournament coverage, and on-the-water bass fishing content. Beyond fishing, I enjoy content creation, photography, travel, and building communities around the outdoors.
How I Got Into Fishing
I actually got into fishing after moving and having trouble finding hobbies that lined up with the people around me. I had never really fished before, but about seven years ago I decided to pick it up as something completely new. What started as trying to find a hobby and meet people quickly turned into a real passion. From there I fell in love with the challenge of figuring fish out, the freedom of kayak fishing, and eventually the community that comes with the sport.
How I Enjoy the Sport
Honestly, Sundays and nights on the water are my favorite. When everything gets quiet and it feels like the lake is mine, that’s when I enjoy fishing the most. I love competition and community too, but there’s something hard to beat about calm water, little boat traffic, and just figuring fish out in peace.

Go-To Rod & Why
CS-MB874-C
This is probably my favorite set up, right now. It has the power want around heavier cover and for frog fishing, but still maintains the sensitivity needed to stay versatile. It feels balanced, dependable, and capable of handling a wide range of techniques, which is exactly what I want while fishing from a kayak.
Why I Chose TCR
Honestly, word of mouth is what first got my attention. Community is huge to me, and hearing people in my circle constantly praise TrashCan Rodz made me curious enough to try them myself. Once I landed a 7-pound bass on one of their ultralight setups with ease — while still having the sensitivity to feel even the smallest bites — I was hooked. The rods balance power and sensitivity extremely well, and they genuinely feel built by people who actually fish.
My Vision for TCR
Expos are one of my favorite ways to see growth happen and build connections within the fishing community. I’d love to see TrashCan Rodz continue growing through word of mouth and simply getting more rods into anglers’ hands. I genuinely believe once people fish with them and feel the balance, sensitivity, and power for themselves, they’ll understand why so many people speak highly of the brand. The more anglers that get to experience them firsthand, the more the brand will continue to grow naturally.

About
By day, I serve as Regional Sales Manager for the Southeast with Garr Tool, where I've built a career around relationships and results. At home, I'm truly blessed — married to my wonderful wife Cindi for 28 years, dad to four incredible kids, and proud grandfather to four grandbabies. My faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation everything else is built on. Outside of work and family, I'm a full-time content creator running a YouTube channel and podcast dedicated to outdoor adventure, where I get to share my passion for the outdoors with a growing community of like-minded people. Whether I'm on the water, in the woods, or behind a mic, if it involves adventure, I'm in.
How I Got Into Fishing
My love for fishing started the way the best things in life do — with family. My dad and grandpa were the first ones to put a rod in my hand, taking me bank fishing and teaching me the basics before I even knew I was hooked. My uncle played a big role too, pouring into me a love for not just fishing, but hunting, dogs, and the outdoors as a whole. Those men didn't just teach me how to fish — they taught me how to appreciate creation and everything God put in it. That foundation they laid is the reason I'm still out there chasing it today.
How I Enjoy the Sport
Honestly, I love it all — ask anyone who follows Kountry Kidd's Outdoor Adventures Or From Paddles To Props Podcast and they'll tell you I'm up for anything the outdoors throws at me. Competition, exploration, solo missions, chasing new species — if it's outside, I'm in. But the older I get, the more I find myself drawn to the pure joy and peace that comes from just being out there. The sunrise on the water, the sounds of the woods, the stillness that you can only find in God's creation — that's become just as valuable to me as any trophy or tournament finish. The outdoors has a way of resetting your soul, and I never take a single day of it for granted.

Go-To Rod & Why
CS-P813-C
I love them all but I have used it the most and caught my PB Spot on it 4lbs 1oz.
Why I Chose TCR
My relationship with TrashCan Rodz started the way the best partnerships do — through genuine connection. I was introduced to Tony Rice, the owner of TrashCan Rodz, through my sponsor A2 Custom Baits, and it wasn't long before I had him on my podcast, From Paddles to Props. The moment we started talking, I knew this was my kind of guy. When Tony shared his story, it hit different — the kind of story that makes you want to get behind someone not just because of their product, but because of who they are. That conversation turned into a friendship, and that friendship turned into me owning four TrashCan Rodz and never looking back. These aren't just rods — they're built by a man with heart, passion, and purpose, and that's exactly the kind of brand Kountry Kidd's Outdoor Adventures is proud to represent.
My Vision for TCR
TrashCan Rodz has all the ingredients to become a household name in the fishing industry, and I want to see Tony get every bit of recognition he deserves. I'd love to see the brand expand its reach into the kayak fishing and tournament scene, where anglers are obsessive about their gear and word of mouth travels fast. More visibility at major fishing events, a growing prostaff of people who genuinely use and believe in the product, and a stronger social media presence that tells Tony's story to a wider audience — that's the trajectory I want to see. Most importantly, I want to see TrashCan Rodz stay true to what it is — a passion-built, people-first brand that never loses the authenticity that made people fall in love with it in the first place. The fishing world needs more of that, and Tony Rice is exactly the kind of owner who can deliver it.

Go-To Rod & Why
CS-MB 843-C
All the core series rods are awesome but I’d say that one, in particular, is my go-to because of its versatility in different situations.
Why I Chose TCR
It’s funny you ask why I picked this company. First Tony is a great person with a great product. My son won a rod on a friend’s Podcast called Paddles to Props. Needless to say, I got my hands on that rod and fell in love with the quality of his core series. First used on Lake Murray caught back to back 4 pounders on it. Now I’m hooked!!
My Vision for TCR
Would love to see the company grow to offer these rods in big box stores across the
country. Get your hands on one of them and you see and feel what I’m talking about.
